Neil Armstrong

This book is about the astronaut Neil Armstrong. This could be used as either a non-fiction or Biography book. If there is a kid who has never heard of this name, then they will be introduced by reading this book. A child can learn a lot of interesting facts about this person. I like how in the back of the book the author put suggestions for other reading and also websites to find out more information. There are a whole bunch of books, on a lot of different and important people in history in this series of books by history maker bios. I feel that every classroom should have some of this books, so children can learn and also use for research. I really enjoyed reasing it and even found out information I did not know at my age, and I know of the name. Really recommend it.

Snow Bear

Snow Bear is a picture book for 4 to 8 year olds. I really thought that this book was cute and there are bears that are soft, so children can touch them as they are reading the book. I thought the idea was great. This feature sort of makes it an interactive book. I think that this is a good book to teach kids that Parents may seem like they are pestering their child, but they just want is really best for them and that parents are just looking out for their child. It teaches the lesson that after a period of time, a mother has to let her children go into the outside world, which is not always so safe. It is just hoped that children will be able to watch themselves, and for as long as possible parents will always be around for help, asdvice and so. If you are also a person that likes winter scenes or polar bears then this book would also intrigue you. Even though it is a polar bear in the book, I think that a child can relate. In a sense the polar bear baby is like a small young child inside, the way he wants to go play, but must stay near so Mom can still see him. Does he listen though? Just like children. This book serves the purpose of first entertaining and second teaching a lesson.

Pizza, Pigs and Poetry How To Write a Poem

Pizza, Pigs and Poetery How To Write a Poem by Jack Prelutsky, is a poetry book that is good for 7 to 10 year olds. I really found the poems in this book to be extremely funny, silly, and enjoyable to read. I think that this book would make kids more interested in poetry and appreciate poetry more. Included in this book also is how the author got ideas for his poems, and tips on how to start writing your own if interested. With this type of poetry book, a kid can really have fun writing poetry by taking a real life experience and then elaborating or embellishing the details entirely or partly. Before each poem a background is given on how ideas were gathered to write the poem. To me this added a lot to the poetry book. If you want a laugh, are into poetry, and like sillyness then I strongly recommend this poetry book.

Sold

The book sold by Patricia McCormick is a young adult book. This book was a National Book Award Finalist and is really to me a heavy reading book. This book is about a thirteen year old girl who lives with her family in a small village in Naples. They are por and must sell things, so they can get money to live. One Day Lakshmi that is the girls name in this book is told she has to go to work as a maid in the city. However, when she gets there she is in for a surprise and finds out that she in fact is sold into slavery and that money is being paid for her. I liked this book a lot, but like I said this is strictly a young adult book and heavy duty reading. I would reccommend this book for your own personal reading, but not for school. Some of what is in the book content wise etc. is I guess you would say in a sense harsh. This book would also fall into the category of Multicultural. If you do not like reading heavy material stuff, then this book would probably not be for you. This book is a little long, not really chapters but is a easy read.

Berenstein Bears Trouble With Pets

Growing up as a kid my favorite books were the Berenstein Bear Ones. They were really enjoyable, but at the same time taught a lesson. Trouble with pets taught kids taking responsibility for a pet. Pets have a tendency to make a mess of the home. Most of the time kids want pets for enjoyment, but the good comes with the bad. I could really relate . When I was young I wanted a dog, but when it came time to take care of the dog I did not want to know anything. I just wanted the good, fun, enjoyable part of having the pet.Playing with it. I would recommend this if you want to teach responsibilty to your children .
